Hey I’m Taschia,

In the thick of motherhood just like you. I spend my days with a baby on my hip and toddlers at my feet. And oh, it truly is where I am meant to be. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three beautiful children. Before kids, I received my Registered Nurse license from the University Of Cincinnati Blue Ash. I went on to work in Pediatrics in the hospital setting. I really enjoyed nursing, caring for people has always been in my heart. I worked on an inpatient floor for a few years then moved to surgery, where I took care of patients before surgery and as they woke up from anesthesia. While working as an RN, I received my Bachelors in Nursing from Ohio University.

In 2021, I gave birth to my daughter. This was my first experience in the birth world, and it truly opened my eyes to it all. While my birth gave me my beautiful babygirl, it was not the birth I had hoped for. I ended up having an unplanned c-section that I believe, had I been better supported, could have been avoided. Fast forward to 2023, I gave birth to my son. I had a successful redemptive VBAC( vaginal birth after cesarean). This pregnancy is when I really dove into birth. I spent a lot of time educating myself on VBAC and all things birth. I learned what a doula was, and knew I needed that extra support in my corner. I hired my doula and believe that she was a huge reason I was able to get my VBAC. After this birth, the thought of becoming a doula sparked. After my maternity leave from the hospital I decided to stay home with the kiddos and left my nursing career. Fast forward again to 2025, the year I gave birth to my youngest daughter. Again, diving even deeper into all things pregnancy and birth. I again hired a doula. The spark of becoming a doula, was even brighter this time. I couldn’t ignore it any longer and completed my Doula certification with Prodoula at 34 weeks pregnant. I navigated a breech baby the last 5 weeks of pregnancy. Doing even more research and education on what my options were. With the support of my husband and doula, I decided to have an ECV (external cephalic version). The baby was successfully flipped, and then I was induced. I ended up having the most beautiful, unmedicated water birth in a hospital setting. It was even more redemptive and empowering. I felt so supported by the hospital team, my doula and husband. My birth didn’t just happen to me, I was empowered and in control.

This is where the name Held + Heard Birth was inspired from. Every mother deserves to feel held and heard in birth. And that is my goal as your doula. I want mothers to get the birth of their dreams. To feel confident and empowered in their decisions. And in the moments in birth when you can’t speak up for yourself, I’ll be in your corner making sure you are heard.

One thing I believe to be true is that, the day a baby is born, a mother is too. Just like we care for the baby, I’m there for you mama.
